Celebrating with Daily Fresh!

Y'all know that shop, the one that's really popular with their waffles and yummy corn in a cup that you can find in malls as standalone shops, or part of the food section.. or even the shop that you find at resting stops on the highway as you drive to Penang (or any where else really..)..

Well, if somebody asked me that question.. only one place really stands out. That's Daily Fresh! Mostly because their shops are usually doused in bright green and there's always a nice smell lingering around the shop. :D

Two weeks ago, I was so graciously invited for an amazing tasting sesh with the aforementioned Daily Fresh :D and boy, was it ever the Sunday treat! :D

We were given some refreshing apple ice tea to cool us down from the heat.. it was really thirst quenching, and wasn't overly sweet which I really appreciated :)

Here's what Daily Fresh has to offer y'all!

#FunFact1:
Did you know there's over 1,800 Daily Fresh kiosks around the world, some all the way in Turkey, U.A.E, Russia.. and close by like Indonesia, China.. Yeah!

I wasn't aware that Daily Fresh was THAT popular!

All sorts of combo sets for you to choose from, depending on what y'all be feeling like eating. There's something for everyone here... Personally I would probably go for set C.. but that's cause I really really like corn :D

Then our tasting session begun!

Here are the CupCorn, brought to a whole different level by having flavours added in.

#FunFact2:
All the corn used in Daily Fresh are home grown in their fields located in Johor!

From Left to Right:  Original flavour, Garlic Cheese, Chilli, Sweet milk and Mayo.

Personally, I really enjoyed the Original and Garlic Cheese.. I also enjoyed the sweetened milk one.
But their corn is really crunchy and tasty.. not unlike some corn where it's just a little flat and not so exciting. (YES EATING CORN CAN BE EXCITING).

Apart from their Classic Wafitos, whereby you can add two flavours.. eg: Peanut Butter and Kaya (BEST COMBO EVER). there's also their premium range Wafitos.

1) Coco Deluxe
2) Pandan Kaya
3) Nyonya Kaya
4) Japanese BBQ
5) Chicken Floss

These Wafitos are premium in the way that their batter are made seperately.. some with pandan.. to give it that slight greenish colour and very fragrant smell. And some with sesame seeds - which I really enjoyed even though I am not the biggest fan of sesame seeds.

The best part is that Daily Fresh is super generous with their fillings! I didn't think these Wafitos would fill me up, but they really did!

Fans of Bonito Flakes will really like the Japanese BBQ flavour!

Having a waffleing good time! HEHE
 .
. now moving on to something I REALLY enjoyed:

Daily Fresh's Gelato Tempo.

Now, these are really really REALLY nice. Made in Italy and packed separately and in a super hygienic way.. these babies are packed full of flavour and are divided into two types:

Yoghurt based and Non-Yoghurt based!

Lemme tell you. My ABSOLUTE favourite was the Yoghurt Mango flavour. IT WAS TOO GOOD!

Doesn't this just look so pretty.... I could stare at this all day long.

The non-yoghurt variety.. really packed with full of flavour!

The Yoghurt Variety.. I actually really like all of them :P

Next up is also one of Daily Fresh newer products:

POPCORN!

There's 5 different flavours -- and they're all equally tasty and full of flavour! They all also come in a nice air-tight pack so you can enjoy your popcorn for a longer period of time. It also helps to keep the crunch in which is great!

1) Black Sesame

2) Honeydew

3) Seaweed (my favourite!)

4) Caramel
5) Curry (also very tasty. Nice snack while watching movies :D)

And you think that's all right, hah! Guess again, we were brought another new product by Daily Fresh and these were definitely something I've never tried before:

ICE KIMOs

The ice (which are already flavoured with fruits) are shaved SO FINE, the texture is really something different on your tongue. SO cooling and nice.. i was really surprised when I tried one out!

Mostly flavoured with real fruits and nata de coco (yum), while some (chocolate, mocha..) were flavoured with chocolate syrup and peanuts. How interesting is that right?

I had SO much fun with Daily Fresh, so thank you! I was also so full at the end of the session that when we were asked if we would like to take away some food, I actually had to decline cause of how full I was. Hehe

We were all given a bag of goodies as well to share with our loved ones at home.

Raising the Steaks with Tony Roma's

Recently, I was invited to try out Tony Roma's for their on-going promotion, very appropriately named "Raising the Steaks" (Geddit? Geddit?) just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2014, who's first game is going to be kicked off in just a few hours! Exciting times man, exciting.

But, not as exciting as having FOUR new tantalizing steaks to try out at Tony Roma's!

Here's what they have to offer:
  • Filet Medallions with Mushroom Sauce - Flame grilled filet medallions topped with a rich mushroom sauce. Served with a choice of two sides.

Since we were given the choice to order any steak we wanted, I opted for this one since I really like the sound of Mushroom Sauce and it was really nice! I also initially thought the portion was a little small since there were 3 medallions, but boy, was I wrong! By my third piece, I was pretty much filled up! Doesn't help that there is also the sides to choose: French Fries, Mash Potatoes, Coleslaw, Corn, Broccoli... we were given Mash Potatoes and broccoli which were nice. Definitely enjoyed the mash potatoes, since they were chunky and had a nice bite to them! Broccoli could do with a little seasoning, they were a little bland.

I would say, it was definitely nice to see actual mushrooms in the sauce, so I enjoyed that a lot! The sauce was a little sweet, but alright in general, so I can say I enjoyed this dish! :)

  • Ribeye Steak with Roasted Onion Sauce - A flame grilled ribeye steak topped with homemade roasted onion sauce with a hint of lemon pepper. Served with a choice of two sides.

This was my least favourite out of the whole menu, the roasted onion sauce lacked flavour and I couldn't really taste the hint of lemon pepper. However, that said though, if you're not a fan of gravy, you might enjoy this steak simply because of the different consistency of the sauce. It's definitely something a lot different from what I've tried before.

  •  New York Strip with Peppered Beef Bacon and Asparagus Relish - A flame grilled New York Strip topped with peppered beef bacon and asparagus relish and glazed with white balsamic glaze. Served with mashed potatoes.

Now, this is definitely a steak that's a whole lot different. I really really enjoyed the bursty little onion things as well as the asparagus relish. My only gripe was that the white (actually brown) balsamic glaze was a little toooo tangy. Also, I felt like this steak was a little dry, but we requested for more of the white balsamic glaze, they did provide us with a little bowl. So that was nice.

Another different thing with this steak was that you only get to have it with Mash potatoes. Probably because it would go best with the balsamic glaze!

And the fourth and last steak available in this promotion is
  • New York Strip with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce - Flame grilled New York Strip steak topped with a creamy roasted red pepper sauce. Served with a choice of two sides.

Oh wow, this is another winner in my books. I am a huge fan of red pepper, learned to love it whilst I was in the UK and it was cheap and versatile and packed full of flavour. This sauce was no different! Could really taste the abundance of red peppers in the sauce! If you like red peppers, then hands down, you will definitely enjoy this steak!

In addition to these four steaks, Tony Roma's are also offering these Virgin Romaritas.

I ordered a Romarita, but I think they might have taken a wrong order and gave me a Mango Romarita, which I wasn't complaining about since I really do enjoy mangoes. So, I enjoyed my drink! :D

A picture of my and my Romarita, as you can tell, it is quite a large drink so definitely a thumbs up for that!
Hope my pictures were good enough to make you feel sorta hungry! Hehe, still quite new at this photographing thing so hopefully it was alright!

Anyway, if you're interested, please head over to Tony Roma's to try out any of these juicy steaks, they'll be having this promotion from NOW till the 13th of JULY 2014, so you still have a whole month to check out these steaks!

I went to the branch in e@Curve, but they have several other branches around including a new branch in Nu Sentral! Find out more information here.

Thank you Tony Roma's for a delightful and extremely filling meal! It was definitely a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a whole lot :)

and to my readers,  thank you for taking time to read this review!

    Lots of love,

Sunday Brunch - Breadfruits Cafe, Desa Sri Hartamas

What is the weekend without a hearty brunch filled with good food and good company? Brunches are my absolute favourite meal of the week. How can it not? It's Breakfast + Lunch which means you can over-order and over-eat and ain't nobody's gonna judge cause you've not eaten either meals! HEHE

One thing that I love about KL, is the vast variety of new cafes to try every weekend! I mean, there's always something new to try (well, everything's nearly new to me anyway. I say nearly cause I've lived here for 6 months, coming 7 so really, I'm getting better... haha)

Last Sunday, Swan and I decided to check out BreadFruits! Since I was in the 1Utama Area and she was coming from Bukit Jalil, she thought it would be great to sort of meet in the middle.. which we did!

First thing to note was there was a waiting list. BreadFruits is not a very big cafe, actually, to be completely honest, it is a little tiny. Thankfully Swan reached before I did and so she popped her name down first (SOO.. haha!) and we still had to wait for about 20 minutes (could be more, could be less) outside.

We also sat outside, which we didn't mind cause there were ceiling (?!) fans above us, which meant it wasn't a sweat-fest. Hehe The inside of the cafe looked a little crowded, IMO and I also overheard one of the waiters telling some girls that if they wanted to sit inside, they'll have to share tables, which I guess for some would be okay, but personally, I like a little more privacy IE having our own table.

Menu wise, I would say there is a lot of choices. Brunch, Salads, Sandwiches, Pasta.. it took me a while to sort of decide what I wanted to eat as well! :)

Here's how our table looked like once all the food was served.

Here's Swan with her Gourmet Antipasto Breakfast Platter, which I thought was a real deal. She paid about RM26++ if I am not mistaken, and it comes with a small juice of the day as well as coffee or tea!

Her platter came with some delicious looking salad, 7 minute eggs, bread, two types of cheeses, chorizo, salami and ham! Man, I think I might order this too if I ever go again. Except maybe I'll ask if I can get some fried or scrambled eggs instead cause I can't do gooey eggs like this.

I was feeling extra carby yesterday so I opted for pasta (I LOVE PASTA- WHOS WITH ME WOOHOO). Pan fried Salmon linguine pasta with rocket, capers and onions (RM19++). I also had a detox juice as well (RM10). They have an extensive list of juices, so juice lovers won't be disappointed!

I enjoyed my pasta very much. I liked that there were a lot of greens in it, as well as a truckful of capers! The salmon was cooked lovely as well, well seasoned and with a crispy exterior. If I had to pick on anything, it was just a little tooooo oily for my liking, but still a good pasta dish nevertheless.

It was a delighful meal and I wouldn't mind going back sometime again to maybe try their French Toasts, or one of their sandwiches (I am seriously looking for a good sandwich here in KL, the ones I've tried has failed me so badly. I miss a good british sandwich!)

If you're looking to try somewhere new this weekend, here's a suggestion:
BreadFruits

17, Jalan 26/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.
