Too Faced Bulletproof Brows: A review.

What's the ONE THING that can frame your face? Don't tell me: your hair. Well, yes, I suppose your hair can ultimately frame your face... but think about it, take away the hair... what else is there that can totally frame your face?

Brows.

Eyebrows.

See, I never used to think much about eyebrows, them caterpillar looking things above our eyes. I was more focused on my eye lashes. *hahahahahahaha* Thinking about it now, my eye lashes are pretty much hopeless, so no matter how much mascara I pile on, I'm never gonna have amazing eye lashes. :(

Anyway, I digress. I've always been a fan of eye brow pencils, and sometimes, I use eye brow crayons (them automated pencils things.) and at one point of my make-up phases, I was super into using eye shadows/powder to fill in my brows.  However, I have never tried anything that was remotely close to a gel, pomade kind of thing so when I saw this:  Too Faced Bulletproof Brows - 24 hours Waterproof Cashmere Clay, it pretty much piqued my interest! Plus I've been hearing about it on the countless YouTube videos that I watch.

On a side note, I shape my eyebrows by myself by threading and using a tiny eyebrow razor to get rid of all them fine hairs! I do think at least once a month but recently did a major rehaul on the style of my brows cause I was kinda bored.

As you can see here, the packaging is super eye-catching with all that big font and pink + black is pretty much two of my favourite colours. SO YAY.  The front bit opens up to reveal that this set, in addition to the brow clay, they have also included a double ended Bulletproof Brow Brush, which is super handy because you have the brush on one end and a spoolie on the other. It also comes with instructions in case you weren't clear on how to draw on your brows :)

It also claims that in 60 seconds, your eye brows will be locked down for 24 hours! I don't know how much of this is true, but I have worn my brows for maximum 18hours straight, and I can safely say, through all that sweat and humidity, my eye brows were still there at the end of the night! :D

Here's the product in all it's glory:

This Bulletproof Brow kit comes in two colours:
1) Universal Taupe, and,
2) Universal Brunette

I chose to go with Universal Taupe only because I think my dark hair is lightening again, so I'm not sure how dark my hair is going to stay and you never want ultra dark brows with not so dark hair cause IMO it can look a little odd.

Also, in my opinion, I think there's quite a bit of product in there (there's 0.07oz. of product) but, a little does go a long way, so I am thinking this pot right here will be lasting me a while.

I also really like how they have a separate lid kind of thing "protecting" the actual product so that when you're busy brushing your eyebrows with the mirror they're provided you don't dry out the product! Smart thinking-- I LOVE IT.

Here's how the product looks against my skin, it has a really really soft look, and while it's not dark, I think it's perfect for anybody with darkish to lightish hair. Also, you have to be pretty light handed when handling this stuff cause you don't want all them harsh lines in your brows!

Here is a side by side comparison of my brows before and after application of the Too Faced Bulletproof Brows! I apologize for the lousy picture quality, I used my iPhone for this as opposed to my camera, mostly because I have terrible lighting in my room.

As you can see, on the right, my eyebrows appear neater and more defined. Also, can you see just how it compliments my eye-makeup? It just makes everything so complete! I LOVE IT. Haha

 (L - Before, R - After)

Also, if you were wondering what products I have on my eyes. I have Too Faced Chocolate Bar eyeshadow on my lids: I used Creme Brulee all over my lid, Semi-Sweet on my crease and Triple Fudge to darken the outer corner of my eye. I am also using Maybelline's Hyper Sharp Liner and also their Mega Plush Mascara.

My verdict overall for Too Faced Bulletproof Brows:
I love it. Like, I like how easy it is to control the product and I can easily draw up my brows very quickly now. It's alos very long lasting so I am not afraid of losing half an eyebrow just because I have been sweating in our Malaysian heat too much. It looks natural and just, lovely. The brush that it comes with is also very helpful and easy to use so A+ for that!

I bought my kit at our local Sephora, I don't quite remember the price but it's around RM70 for the kit if I am not mistaken (please feel free to correct me -- I have awful memory. hehe) and I also had my 10% off Sephora discount so I used that as well! I think it's a great buy and I find myself reaching for this product a lot more than my pencils nowadays :D

Thank you for reading! If you've tried it before as well, tell me in the comments section if you love it like me, or if you hate it (and why!) or if you think it's just so-so. I would really like to know.

And just to let y'all know, my giveaway is still ongoing for a Luxola Silk Finish 102 Brush! You can check out and join the giveaway here! It will end on the 30th of June 2014 :)

Hope everyone has had a lovely week and will have a rad coming week! I'm watching The Fault in Our Stars on Tuesday and I. AM. SO. EXCITED! Gonna be busting out every waterproof make-up products I have for this show. I can already imagine the cry-fest I'll be having, wouldn't be surprised if I had tissue paper stuck in my tear ducts. haha!

Lots of love,
Amelia xo

  1. Waterproof makeup for going to a tearjerker?! Why, that is a brilliant idea, Amelia! I never thought of that. Mascara and liner are the worst culprits. I am never going to use the non - waterproof type again.
As for this brow kit, it's snazzy and I like it especially with that thiughtful extra lid is great but this colour is too light for me. I'd prefer something a little more charcoal or grey with zero auburn pigments. But I do love your brows, girl!
